As a Studio Designer user, you are able to check out adaptations and make changes to the artwork in the software that was used to create it. This will require you to have licenses for this software.
Adaptations will be created in the software the Master Template was set-up in. This will be either Adobe InDesign, After Effects, Illustrator or Photoshop; or Figma.
Adobe
In order to edit adaptations created in this software, users will need to have an active Creative Cloud license. We currently support Creative Cloud 2024.
Figma
Figma automation requires clients to be using a paid Figma account. Automation is not possible with a free Figma account. In order to edit adaptations created in Figma, users need to:
- Have a seat on the Figma account used in automation
- Be part of the team that the automation integration user is a member of
Automation occurs within the clients Figma account. To do this, CreateTOTALLY requires a paid seat for the Integration user, a project to contain all of the automated content and a team of users who will be able to access these files. For security purposes, no other client work should be stored in the project(s) used for automation and a separate team should be created. Note, the Professional level of Figma does not support multiple teams, so a separate Professional account will be required for automation.

Configuring Figma for automation
Create a new Team
The first step in configuring Figma for use in automation is to create a new team. This is the group of users who will have access to create templates and manage adapts.
- Go to All teams and click + Team
- Give the new team the name of CreateTOTALLY
- Choose the access levels
- Click continue
- Add team members to the team - note all team members need to have edit access
- Click create
Provide a seat to our user
A seat must be purchased for our figma+prod+1@createtotally.com user in order for automation to work. This user must be given admin access to the team.
Create a project(s) for automation
Create a project within the team for automation. Projects will allow you to organise your templates and adaptations:
- The templates you create will exist within a project
- All adaptations created from the template will be created in the same folder.
Figma projects can be slow to load when they have hundreds of files within them, so consider how you will break up your templates to optimise performance
Tip - pinning your template projects will make them faster to locate. Right click on the Figma file within the project and select “pin to project”. This will then appear at the top of the project.
